SILVER BAY, Minn. -- Dickinson sophomore Colby Mink scored the first two goals of his varsity career in the span of 4 minutes on Friday afternoon.
Mink had a power-play goal 2:39 into the first period and added his second at the 6:10 mark to help the Midgets claim a lead they wouldn't look back on en route to a 4-2 victory over Ely (Minn.) at the Silver Bay Tournament.
"We came out and got a much-needed win after yesterday's performance and it started with a young guy going out there and getting two goals," Dickinson co-coach Dave Hanneman said.
Ross Kovacs and Cole Reisenauer each had a goal and an assist for Dickinson. Jeff Kaiser added two assists for Dickinson.
Kovacs' goal came on a power play with 8:02 left in the third period and sealed the win for the Midgets (6-3-2).

"Ross Kovacs has had an outstanding tournament," Hanneman said.
However, the play of Ross' big brother Grant Kovacs in the net kept the Timberwolves from closing the gap. Grant Kovacs had 27 saves - 11 in the third period - to help Dickinson hold on to the win.
"The other guys definitely play harder in front of him," Hanneman said.
D.J. Lindstrom and John Hanninen scored Ely's (4-5) only goals in the second period.
The Midgets play either Henry Sibley (Minn.) or Silver Bay at 3 p.m. CST today in the fifth-place game.
