BISMARCK - Mountain lion hunting season in the North Dakota Game and Fish Department’s Zone 1 is closed.
The zone’s late-season quota of seven was filled after five cats were taken last weekend.
The zone includes land west of Highway 85 in Bowman, Billings and Slope counties, all of Golden Valley and McKenzie counties, land south of Highway 1804 from the Montana border to the point where the highway lies directly across Lake Sakakawea from Highway 8, and most of Dunn County north of Highway 200.
The mountain lion season in Zone 2, which is the rest of the state outside Zone 1, has no quota and is open through March 31, 2014.
