BISMARCK (AP) -- A North Dakota House committee is finishing its version of legislation that's intended to deter bullying in schools.
Three House measures are being condensed into one bill. It is similar to a measure that the Senate approved last week.
The House measure says the North Dakota School Boards Association has to develop an anti-bullying policy as a model for local schools.
The Senate's bill would have North Dakota's school superintendent develop the model bill. Both proposals say schools would have to adopt an anti-bullying policy by July 2012.
The House bill says schools must decide policies for reporting, investigating and punishing cases of bullying. School districts would also need to offer programs on bullying prevention.
