BISMARCK (AP) -- North Dakota's House has begun debating whether to repeal the state's pharmacy ownership law.
The legislation has been the focus of a heated lobbying battle between North Dakota pharmacists and large retailers.
North Dakota law requires that pharmacists be the majority owners of pharmacies in the state. Wal-Mart and other retailers say the law must be repealed to allow them to run their own pharmacies and offer $4 prescriptions on generic drugs.
