ND jail inmate dies of alcohol-related problems

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) -- An autopsy has concluded that a Burleigh County jail inmate who died over the weekend suffered from health problems related to alcohol addiction.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) -- An autopsy has concluded that a Burleigh County jail inmate who died over the weekend suffered from health problems related to alcohol addiction.

Forty-year-old Bernard Hewitt was arrested on Thursday night on a fugitive from justice warrant out of Montana. Hewitt became sick on Saturday morning and was taken to a Bismarck hospital, where he died. Burleigh County Sheriff Pat Heinert says Hewitt had heart and liver problems.

North Dakota's state jail inspector will review the case.
