BISMARCK (AP) -- The number of people in southwest and central North Dakota who remain without power after a Good Friday snow storm has been reduced to about 2,000.
Heavy snow and strong winds in the April 2 storm toppled about 10,000 power poles, downed hundreds of miles of electrical lines and plunged about 8,400 people into the dark.
The people most affected by the storm are those served by the Mor-Gran-Sou electric cooperative, which still has about 1,750 customers without power. Spokeswoman Jackie Miller says it will be a few more weeks before power is restored to all customers.
Miller says "the devastation is incredible."
The state is almost certain to seek a federal disaster declaration.
