BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) -- The Republican candidate for North Dakota's Public Service Commission may be appointed to the job that he's running for already.
Hazen state Sen. Randy Christmann is seeking a PSC spot that became vacant last week. Incumbent Republican Tony Clark resigned.
The North Dakota Constitution has prevented Christmann from being considered for the opening.
But last week, North Dakota voters approved removing the constitutional restriction. Now, Christmann is eligible for an appointment as early as next Monday, when the election results are certified.
Christmann and Democrat Brad Crabtree are running for Clark's former commission seat. Clark had already said he wasn't running for re-election.

Gov. Jack Dalrymple will appoint someone to serve out the rest of Clark's term. His spokesman says Monday he doesn't know if Dalrymple is considering picking Christmann.
