FARGO (AP) -- North Dakota ranks first in the nation for honey production for the fifth straight year.
The Agriculture Department says honey production last year in the state totaled 35.1 million pounds, up 13 percent from the previous year.
North Dakota and California typically vie for the honor of top honey-producing state. Production in California last year totaled only 18.4 million pounds.
Nationwide, 161 million pounds of honey were produced.
