The West River Community Center will be linked via a walking trail to the new St. Joseph's Hospital and office building grounds once the complex is completed.
At Monday's Dickinson Park Board meeting, a unanimous 3-0 vote was taken -- two board members were not present -- to allow a link from the existing trail circulating around the WRCC campus to a trail that is planned to do the same around the hospital complex.
"This is a great opportunity," said Park Board Director James Kramer. "This would make over two miles of continuous trails. Not only that, but it would be in a pretty aesthetically pleasing area with some neat landscapes. This is an opportunity to show the public that we are dedicated to enhancing our trail system."
