BISMARCK (AP) -- Supporters of overhauling North Dakota's pension fund for state government workers were unable to revive the proposal Monday.
Last Friday the House defeated the pension measure by a single vote.
The bill would have barred newly hired workers from joining the pension fund after Aug. 1. New employees would instead be put into a 401(k)-style retirement plan that doesn't have guaranteed benefits.
Supporters of the bill had said they would try to get another House vote on Monday.
But the House ended its floor session late Monday afternoon without reconsidering the bill.

That means it's likely to stay dead, because it would take a two-thirds House vote to revive the legislation.
