BISMARCK — Sen. John Hoeven and Rep. Kelly Armstrong have nominated a total of seven North Dakota students to national military academies.
Students applying for military academies must receive a Congressional nomination as part of the application process.
Each service academy admission board makes the final appointments. Appointees receive a scholarship and must serve in the military for at least five years upon graduation.
Individuals interested in applying for a military nomination for the class of 2028 should apply by October 2023.
Amstrong's nominees are Brendan Connor to the U.S. Military Academy, Keira Cole to the U.S. Naval Academy and Nicolas Armendariz-Lotito to the U.S. Air Force Academy.

Connor is a senior at Devils Lake High School. He takes part in hockey, baseball, band and National Honor Society, and volunteers with the Fishing with Vets program.
One of his grandparents served in the Marines and another in the Army National Guard. His brother Barrett is a current student at the U.S. Military Academy, class of 2025.
Cole is a senior at Grafton High School. Her extracurricular activities include basketball, golf, taekwondo, choir, yearbook committee, prom committee and Academic Olympics. She currently serves as class president.
Armendariz-Lotito is a senior at Grand Forks Central High School. He lives with his family at Grand Forks Air Force Base where his father serves. He takes part in JROTC, National Honor Society and student council. He spent time living in Germany and is a two-time German and three-time European martial arts champion.
Hoeven's nominees are Isabelle Von Osterheldt to the U.S. Air Force Academy, Jacob Boehm to the U.S. Military Academy, Olivia Jones to the U.S. Military Academy and Ayden Frohlich to the U.S. Naval Academy.
Boehm is a 2022 graduate of Century High School in Bismarck and currently attends North Dakota State University.
At NDSU, Boehm is on the Dean’s List and in the ROTC program, the Grand Challenges Scholars Program, the National Academy of Engineering and was inducted into the National Society of Collegiate Scholars Honor Society. He's a private in the North Dakota National Guard.
His parents are Jeri Boehm and Shannon Boehm, a West Point graduate and retired Army colonel.

Jones is a senior at Shanley High School in Fargo where she holds a 3.8 GPA. She's involved in theater, choir, art, speech and weightlifting, and is captain of her swim team.
She's a member of the National Honor Society and is a private in the Minnesota National Guard.
Jones is the daughter of Shannon Roers Jones and Ross Jones of Fargo.
Frohlich is a senior at Legacy High School in Bismarck where he holds a 3.5 GPA. He's involved in golf, swimming and weightlifting, and has served on the North Dakota State Superintendent Cabinet.
He has his student pilot license, volunteers at the local Humane Society and is a manager at his workplace. Frohlich is the son of Billie Jo Lorius and Mike Frohlich.
Von Osterheldt of Minot is a senior at Magic City Campus High School and has a 4.0 GPA.
She's involved in student council, German club, jazz band, track and field and is assistant music director at St. Leo’s Parish. Her parents are Norma and Paul Von Osterheldt.
