PLAZA, N.D. — Authorities have identified a semi driver killed in a crash Friday, Sept. 16, in western North Dakota.

The driver killed was Marco Arreola-Ibarra, 33, of Garrison, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

The crash happened shortly after 9 a.m. when a 2013 Ford F-350 pickup truck was northbound on 61st Avenue Northwest at the intersection of McLean County Road 2, 14 miles south of Plaza.

The F-350, driven by Kristine Wilkens, 36, of Ryder, failed to yield at the intersection and collided with a westbound 2007 Freightliner semi, the patrol said.

The semi rolled into the northwest ditch and two passengers managed to crawl out. Both men were wearing seat belts and were injured, the patrol said.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of "staff." Often, the "staff" byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
