A damaged and leaking package mailed to a Dickinson State University student contained more than 2 ounces of marijuana, said Lt. Rod Banyai from the Dickinson Police Department.
"The mailroom called because it was leaking coffee grounds," Banyai said, adding the package arrived Thursday.
He added coffee grounds are sometimes used by drug users who attempt to mask the smell the drug. Banyai said the coffee didn't throw off Talon, a narcotics dog from the DPD. Talon let his handler, Mike Hanel, know there were drugs in the package.
The name of the student the package was addressed to was not released and Banyai said authorities were trying to locate the student Friday.
