WILLISTON -- One man is dead after his sedan sideswiped a tractor-trailer near Williston on Wednesday morning.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, Robert Schieno, 43, of Williston, was driving southwest on State Highway 1804 just before 10 am. when the Buick Regal he was driving drifted across the centerline and into oncoming traffic. The Peterbilt truck headed northeast swerved into the ditch to avoid Schieno, but his Buick hit the truck on the driver’s side.
Schieno died at the scene of the crash, the patrol said. The truck driver, 56-year-old James Wingert, of Minot, was not injured.
Schieno was not wearing a seatbelt, a patrol report indicated.
