MISSION, S.D. -- One person has died and a tribal police officer was injured in a shooting Wednesday morning on Rosebud Indian Reservation in South Dakota.
FBI spokesman Kyle Loven said the bureau is investigating the shooting, which happened during a struggle between the officer and an unidentified person, who later died. The extent of the officer’s injuries, and the circumstances behind the struggle, are not yet available for release, Loven said.
As it is early in the investigation, Loven said the FBI is not releasing the names of those involved.
The Rosebud Reservation is located on the South Dakota-Nebraska border in the south-central part of the state and includes all of Todd County.
