Palma R. Irons Roknes

Funeral service for Palma R. Irons Roknes of Dickinson, formerly of Halliday, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at Marshall Lutheran Church, Marshall, with Pastor Tim Voth officiating. Burial will be in the Halliday Cemetery.

Funeral service for Palma R. Irons Roknes of Dickinson, formerly of Halliday, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at Marshall Lutheran Church, Marshall, with Pastor Tim Voth officiating. Burial will be in the Halliday Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson.

Palma passed away Feb. 18, 2009 at St. Luke's Nursing Home, Dickinson.

Palma R. Pollestad was born Dec. 23, 1915 in Werner, to John S. and Hannah (Thompson) Pollestad. She grew up and attended schools in the Werner area. She helped and worked on the family farm until she met Charles Irons and they were united in marriage on Dec. 4, 1944. Together they farmed south of Halliday where they raised their family. After the death of Charles in 1981, Palma moved into Dickinson in 1982. Palma and John Roknes were married in 1982 and they made their home on John's farm until 1989 when they moved into Dickinson. John passed away in 1991. Palma was well known for her baking of buns and cooking. Anyone who came to visit was always served coffee and something to eat. She was a member of the Marshall and Halliday Our Saviour's Lutheran Churches and was very active with the Ladies Circles in both churches. Palma loved and enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, Chuck (Shirley) Irons, Halliday; daughter, Jean (Dennis) Sticka, Dickinson; grandchildren, Corey (Guille) Irons, Lori (Joe) Hlibichuk, Cody (Rochelle) Irons, Jodi Irons, Loni (Jade) Ziman, Michele (Brian) Allerdings and Cindy (Curt) Buckman; 13 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Ruby (Paul) Paulson, Dickinson.

Palma is preceded in death by both parents, husbands, Charles Irons and John Roknes; brothers, Curtis, Stanley and Alvin; sisters, Blanche Hedstrom, Hazel Hedger and Myrtle Pollestad.
