Police Blotter: Small fire scares couple

The Dickinson Fire Department and Stark County Sheriff Office responded to a structure fire on C Street on Thursday morning. A couple were sleeping in the home when a smell of smoke woke them up. The fire department quickly contained the small fire.

A couple were sleeping in the home when a smell of smoke woke them up. The fire department quickly contained the small fire. The only damage was to a pile of clothes, which was burned. No dollar amount has been assigned to the loss of items.
Racial vandalism reported at DSU


Police responded to a report of vandalism on the Dickinson State University campus Wednesday morning. Officers arrived at DeLong Hall, where permanent marker with a racial message was scrawled on the wall. Police were able to wash it off. The school marked it as a matter of record.
Suspicious man found sleeping in car at DHS parking lot


A suspicious person was reported to police Thursday morning. Police said a man, technically homeless, has been sleeping in his car while parked in the Dickinson High School parking lot. When temperatures drop, he runs his car for a short while, letting the space warm up.
