Highway 22 is temporarily blocked 20 miles north of Killdeer due to a traffic accident, according to the North Dakota Department of Transportation.
At about 8:30 this morning a spokeswoman said the department expects the road to reopen when it's cleaned up but had no estimated time.
Highway 57 south of Devils Lake from the Junction of Highway 20 to Fort Totten is also temporarily closed until further notice.
Strong winds are creating waves which are washing water over the road and leaving debris, creating hazardous travel conditions. As temperatures drop overnight, the water on the roadway may freeze and create icy conditions. The condition of the road will be evaluated in the morning.
NDDOT reminds motorists that a Travel Alert remains in effect this morning for the northwest, central and south east sections of the state due to high winds and blowing snow creating reduced visibility.
