The Dickinson Public School District (DPS) is having its staff retirement and recognition program at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 9 in the Dickinson High School Risser Auditorium.
Teacher and staff recognition week is May 6-12.
DPS employees who have been with the district for 10, 15, 20, 25 30 and 35 years and those retiring with 10 years or more service will be recognized. There are 16 retirees as of April 3.
Business Manager Vince Reep calculated the combined total number of years the retirees served the district.
Eleven of the retirees are teachers with 307 combined years of service to the district and five are classified staff with 117 combined years of service to the district. The total number of years for the retirees is 424 years, even though many also have experience outside the district.

Those being recognized for 30 years or more include DHS biology teacher Henry (Hank) Pankratz, 38 years, Heart River Elementary School Title I teacher Eunice Frank, 32 years, DHS custodian Henry Dorner, 32 years, Hagen Junior High School geography teacher Ernest Ficek, 31 years, DHS physical education instructor Cynthia Haught, 31 years and Lincoln Elementary School fourth-grade teacher Patricia Kilber, 30 years.
Those being recognized for 20 years or more include P.S. Berg Elementary School fifth-grade teacher Johanne Vinson, 27 years, Hagen Junior High School language arts teacher Deborah Thompson, 27 years, Heart River fourth-grade teacher Eileen Johnson, 27 years, Heart River administrative assistant Sharon Runcorn, 27 years, Heart River sixth-grade teacher Theresa Dobitz, 26 years, Early Childhood Center paraprofessional Patricia Dennis, 26 years, Dickinson High School (DHS) social studies teacher Owen Johnsen, 23 years and Hagen head cook Paulette Farber, 21 years.
Roosevelt Elementary School speech pathologist Ellen Becker is retiring after 16 years and district bus driver Eugene Morman after 11.
The public is welcome to join DPS in recognizing these and other individuals on their dedicated service to the school district. A reception will follow in the Dickinson High School commons area.
