MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) -- A Missoula judge found the Frenchtown fire chief threatened a longtime department volunteer last year, but denied an order of protection, saying the chief did not represent a continued threat.

The Missoulian reports Justice of the Peace Karen Orzech made her decision Jan. 24 on the order sought by Jenny Ross. Ross said she feared for her life after Chief John Bibler "threatened to kill my family and I while twirling a loaded (bullet) casing in his hand in front of other members of the Frenchtown Fire Department."

Testimony during the Jan. 14 hearing found Bibler used a fake Facebook account to threaten Ross and David Streeter, another firefighter who had complained about Bibler making sexual advances to several of the female staff.

The department's board has been investigating the allegations against Bibler since December.
