Richard Knaup, 62, Bismarck, died peacefully at his home with his family by his side on May 29, 2007, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Richard's memorial services are at 1 p.m. CDT today, June 1, 2007, at Bismarck Funeral Home with the Rev. Bruce Krebs presiding.
Burial is in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
Dick was born Nov.10, 1944, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Dickinson, to Lawrence and Theresa (Bayer) Knaup. He grew up on the family farm south of Gladstone.
After graduating from Gladstone High School, he joined the National Guard. Upon his discharge, he worked various positions in sales. Dick was a natural salesman, selling everything from cars, insurance to radio advertising.

He also owned and operated printing businesses. In 1993, he joined the advertising sales team at Anderson Broadcasting.
On June 10, 1995, he married Marlene (Gaab). They worked together in the radio business for several years.
Dick enjoyed playing golf, fishing, gardening, watching the Minnesota Twins and Oakland Raiders (if they were winning, which wasn't often) and particularly enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Marlene; daughter, Teather, Bismarck; son, Travis and daughter-in-law, Keeta (Neibauer), Bismarck; two step-daughters, Kim Walters, Harvey, and Cheryl Tranby, Bismarck; two grandchildren, Paige and Blake; five step-grandchildren, Devin, Alex, Sarah, Tanner and Aaron; his mother, Theresa Knaup, Dickinson; 10 brothers and sisters; many nieces and nephews; and many special family friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence, one brother, Charlie, one niece; and a nephew.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Dick Knaup Memorial Fund at US Bank.
