The funeral Mass for Richard A. Sadowsky, 79, Dickinson is at 10 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 11, 2006, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Dickinson, with the Rev. Claude Seaberger celebrating. Entombment will take place at Dickinson Mausoleum.
Visitation is from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 10, 2006, at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson, with rosary and vigil services at 7 p.m.
Richard passed away Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2006, at SCCI Hospital, Mandan, with family by his side.
Richard Anton Sadowsky was born July 21, 1927, to Frank and Caroline Kadrmas Sadowsky on the family farm in Dunn County. He grew up and attended country schools and eventually attended grade school at New Hradec, before finishing high school in Dickinson at Model High.
After graduation Dick enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served one tour. After being honorable discharged, he returned home to Dickinson, where he worked for MDU and then Cenex. It was during this time that Dick met Emily Splichal. The two were married on Nov. 5, 1947, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson.

The couple made their home in Dickinson for a year before moving to the farm north of town. It was here that they raised their children. Dick and Emma made their home there until 1995, when they retired to Dickinson.
Dick was a very accomplished musician, playing the drums for various bands, including the Chuck Kadrmas Band for over 35 years. He loved spending time with his family and cherished their gatherings. Dick also enjoyed playing cards, old time band videos, and music. He was a member of the St. Anthony Club, Knights of Columbus, Czech Heritage Club, KD Club and St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Emma, Dickinson; two sons, Kerry (Linda Dukart) Sadowsky, Pelican Rapids, Minn., and Rick (Laura Conrad) Sadowsky, Ankeny, Iowa; four daughters, Karen (Stan) Goehring, Underwood, N.D., Audrey (Terry) Morey, Dickinson, Debbie (Chad) Stroh, Mandan, and Jackie Knutson, Fargo; 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Milly Sadowsky, Rapid City, and Mary Engelhardt, Bismarck; three nephews and three nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, George and Laudie; and three sisters, Gladys, Virginia and Edith.
