Richard Schirado, 84, of Glen Ullin, died Tuesday, June 26, 2007, at the Marian Manor Health Care Center, Glen Ullin.

Richard's Mass of Christian burial is at 10 a.m. CDT on Friday, June 29, 2007, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Glen Ullin with the Rev. Sebastian Schmidt as celebrant.

Burial is in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Visitation is at 4 p.m. today the church with a vigil service at 7 p.m.

Richard was born July 30, 1922, on the family farm 14 miles northeast of Glen Ullin, the son of Anton and Katie (Rausch) Schirado. He was raised on the farm and educated at Union School.

Richard married Josephine Filibeck on Aug. 29, 1944, at Sacred Heart, Glen Ullin.

Following marriage, they farmed for many years, some good and some not so good.

In 1978, they built a new home in Glen Ullin and moved into town in 1979, when Dick took over the farm.

Richard operated a saw sharpening business, enjoyed woodworking and created many items. He was a board member for the Union School District for over 20 years and a charter member of the Glen Ullin Weighing Association.

Grateful for having shared in his life are his wife, Josie, Glen Ullin; his children, Judy (Phil) Miller, Topeka, Kan., Lila (James) Dixon, Colorado Springs, Colo., SanDee (Howard) Wehri, Dick (Debbie) Schirado, all of Glen Ullin, Mischelle Schirado, Bismarck, Gaylen Schirado, Bonners Ferry, Idaho, and Carmen (Pat) Arthur, Vancouver, Wash.; 17 grand children; and three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Mike (Gerry) and Thomas (Kathy), all of Glen Ullin; three sisters, Pearl Voegele, Mandan, Gen Karlin, Cool, Calif., and Lena Sorenson, Yuma, Ariz.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Tony, Lester and Harry; and two sisters, Katherine and Joan.
