Rose was born on Jan. 28, 1939, to Frank and Rosa (Berger) Senn. She grew up on a farm northeast of Mott. After her high school graduation from St. Mary's High School in New England, she attended St. Alexius School of Nursing in Bismarck where she graduated as a RN in 1959.
On June 6, 1963, Rose married James Humphrey. Although, they lived in several different places over the years, Wadena, Minn. was called "home". As a registered nurse, Rose began her career at the Jamestown State Hospital. After moving to Wadena, Minn., she continued working as a nurse at the Tri-County Hospital and at the Bell Hill Recovery Center for many years. She ended her career back at the place where she started years ago at the Jamestown State Hospital where she retired in 1989 due to her disability from diabetes. In 1998, Rose received notification from Eli Lilly & Co. that she was one of 3,000 survivors of type I diabetes for 50 years. After her retirement, they relocated to Bismarck. In 1997, they decided to venture south and spent many winters in Apache Junction, Ariz. Rose enjoyed the time she spent in Arizona and the friends she made there. She moved permanently back to Bismarck in 2004 until March 2009, when she moved into the Marian Manor Nursing Home in Glen Ullin.
Rose was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church in Bismarck. She enjoyed spending time with her granddaughters and playing games with them. Over the years, she also became a crossword puzzle "fanatic", as she would say.
Rose is survived by her husband, Jim, Apache Junction, Ariz.; her son, Todd (Karen), Bismarck; her granddaughters Brittney and Briana Humphrey; one sister, Henrietta (James) Nistler, Wilton; two brothers, Wilfred (Cece) Senn, Necedah, Wis., and Leroy (Rose) Senn, Dickinson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
