Several members of the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) have made it their life's mission to keep children warm and cozy with their homemade quilts.
RSVP acting director Diane Pommerer and two volunteers recently donated the RSVP quilts to children enrolled in the Dickinson Redeemer Lutheran Preschool.
While celebrating Pajama Day, the children picked out favorite quilts and soon were snuggled into the blankets.
"The quilts are all donated. They do it out of love," said Pommerer.
Volunteer Irene Rohde said the quilts are child-sized, about 40 x 50 inches.

"I have to be busy all the time. It's a past-time. I enjoy seeing the little children's smiles," she said.
She welcomes boxes of discarded jeans and doesn't hesitate to cut up her own apparel when it become outdated.
Volunteer Elsie Maershbecker finds material from the House of Manna or ARC-Aide Thrift Shop. She even uses mattress pads as the filling.
Preschool director Nikki Tyrrell said the donation of quilts was a surprise for the children.
"I thought it was a wonderful thing to do for these kids," she said.
Twenty-one quilts were given to the morning class, while another 15 were donated to the afternoon class.
Persons with clean, quality clothing to donate as quilts may call the RSVP office at 227-8421.
