Deadlines approach, as few candidates apply

Area schools will be holding elections to fill open school board positions this summer. School officials said that positions that receive no applications will vote someone in by write-in. Those schools with no application deadline listed have already passed the date. The list is as follows:

Belfield

* Positions open: One rural position, three-year term

* Applications received: None

* Elections: June 9, Belfield School Library, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Hettinger

* Positions open: One two-year rural and one three-year rural term

* Applications received: Two

* Elections: June 16, Hettinger School, hours TBD

Beach

* Positions open: One, three year term

South Heart
