FARGO (AP) -- A Fargo man credits his training with the North Dakota Air National Guard for helping him save his 10-year-old son, who became entangled in a rope swing and lost consciousness.

Staff Sgt. Jeffrey Jacobson of the 119th Wing says he performed CPR on his son, Karson, after finding him without a pulse on the swing in their garage on April 1.

Doctors put the boy in an induced coma to control brain swelling. He awoke five days later, on Monday. By Tuesday, the boy was showing signs of improvement. He was sent home on Friday.

Jacobson says all Guard soldiers in the 119th Wing get CPR training. He says he went into auto pilot and started CPR, expecting the worst. He's glad his son is OK.
