VALLEY CITY -- Valley City State shot well Saturday afternoon, but Dickinson State wasn't as lucky.
Molly Schultz scored 16 points while Loni Hall and Mallory Undlin each notched double-doubles to lead the Vikings past the struggling Blue Hawks 69-57 in Dakota Athletic Conference women's basketball at Osmond Fieldhouse.
It was the Blue Hawks' sixth consecutive loss.
"The first half, they shot the ball extremely well and we just couldn't buy a basket the first half," DSU coach Guy Fridley said.
VCSU built a 40-19 halftime lead after hitting 16 of its 26 field goals in the first half. DSU was just 5 of 23 before the half.

"We've just got to get some production from inside the paint," Fridley said. "When we're not getting production inside the paint, we're not going to get many points."
VCSU got production from its usual sources.
Undlin had 11 points and 11 rebounds for the Vikings. Hall had 11 points and 10 rebounds.
DSU got most of its scoring from its guards.
Ashley Bakich led the Blue Hawks with 14 points. Brittni Pladson and Andrea Staley each had nine points.
DSU trailed big midway through the second half, but cut VCSU's lead below 10 points as the game wore on.
"We battled our tails off the last eight minutes," Fridley said.
Fridley said he wasn't disappointed with the loss and believes the Blue Hawks are on the verge of making waves within the conference.

"We're extremely close," Fridley said. "We're just trying to peak our head over this hill."
