A rumor that shots were fired near Lincoln Elementary School has turned up false, according to the Dickinson Police Department.
News spread around Dickinson City Hall and eventually throughout town that the police had chased an armed man on foot, according to the Dickinson Police Department Facebook page and Detective Terry Oestreich. The post confirmed a man was pursued on foot on the 1100 block of Sims Street on Thursday.
The subject was being pursued away from the school. No shots were fired and the man was arrested by the Southwest Narcotics Task Force, Oestreich said.
Oestreich did not know the name of the individual, stating the Southwest Narcotics Task Force was in charge of the incident. The Press could not reach Southwest Tactical Team representatives for comment.
