Sister Salome Tlusty, 97, Sister of Mercy of the Holy Cross died on April 14, 2007, at Bell Tower Residence, Merrill, Wis. At the time of her death she was in the 74th year of her religious profession.
Sister Tlusty was born Dec. 22, 1909, in Chelsea, Wis., to the late Fred and Kate Tlusty. She entered Holy Cross Convent in Merrill, WI, on July 30, 1928, and took her first profession on September 15, 1933.
Sister Tlusty ministered in the field of education in Fenton, Mo.; Haymarsh and Dickinson, Cincinnati, Ohio; Antigo and Rhinelander, Wis. She ended her career as a medical librarian in Dickinson in 1998 and retired to Bell Tower Residence in Merrill, Wis.
Sister Tlusty is survived by the Holy Cross Community; two brothers, Leonard (Shirley) Tlusty of Alexandria, Va.; Harold Tlusty, Medford, Wis., and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 18, at Holy Cross Chapel at Bell Tower Residence with the Rev. Tom Zelinski, OFM, officiating. Visitation for family will be held Tuesday from 4-5 p.m. and for the public from 5- 7 p.m. at Holy Cross Chapel. There will be a wake service at 7 p.m. Visitation will also continue on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of service. Burial will take place in St. Francis Cemetery in Merrill, Wis.
