A "significant storm" is expected to hit the plains later this weekend through the middle of the week, according to a National Weather Service special report.
A potential for significant rain and snow is likely across west and central North Dakota, including Dickinson and the surrounding area, according to the Service. Thunderstorms are forecast for Saturday and Sunday over the western third of the state.
Saturday and Sunday temperatures are expected to be in the 50s and 60s.
The storm system is expected to move in from the south Monday and increase in intensity. It will become more widespread overnight Monday and throughout Tuesday. Rain will then change to snow and strong winds are forecast along with the storm, according to the Service.
