Some business owners are offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to the conviction of whoever stole a batch of weapons and broke into more than a dozen other businesses in Spearfish.
Also, the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has announced a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the conviction of the thief or thieves who stole firearms from Alpha Title & Pawn, a federally licensed firearms dealer. Fifteen firearms were stolen during the Feb. 22 break-in.
Four more businesses have joined, adding $700 to the overall reward fund.
Police say 16 business have been burglarized. In most of the cases, the burglars stole cash, breaking into safes and cash registers.
