The Stark County Commission filed a complaint today with Gov. Jack Dalrymple and asked him to remove Stark County Sherriff Clarence Tuhy from office.

The commissioners declined to comment about the request they made to Stark County State's Attorney Tom Henning during an executive session this morning.

Tuhy said at about 3 p.m. that he was not aware that the commissioners asked the governor to have him removed.

"This is a surprise to me because I haven't heard anything from the commission. I didn't know they were doing that," he said. "I was aware that there was a workplace investigation conducted at the sheriff's office, but there was nothing that came out of the report that I'm aware of."

Tuhy said the best thing for him to do will be to contact the attorney for the North Dakota State Lodge Fraternal Order of Police.
