BISMARCK – The North Dakota State Penitentiary remained on lockdown here Thursday morning after an inmate assault Wednesday evening that resulted in non-life-threatening injury, a spokeswoman said.
The assault occurred about 6:40 p.m., said Michelle Linster, public information officer for the state Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
Linster said she couldn’t disclose how many inmates were involved in the assault, how many were injured or whether anyone was hospitalized.
The state Bureau of Criminal Investigation and North Dakota Highway Patrol are investigating, she said.
The lockdown means prisoners are being kept in their cells and visitation is suspended.
