BISMARCK -- Police have identified a suspect in connection with an armed confrontation that shut down several square blocks in northeast Bismarck midday Tuesday.
Police officials said a 31-year-old man is suspected of drawing a handgun on a woman outside of U.S. Foods shortly before noon Tuesday. The man’s name was not released, but officer Pat Renz said there is no longer “concern or danger to the general public."
Police believe the man left the Bismarck area after the incident. The woman was not injured and police said she knew the suspect.
Legacy High School, Shiloh Christian School and Sunrise Elementary School briefly issued a "shelter in place" as a precaution. During a shelter in place, the building is locked and people coming in are subject to search and questioning, but normal activities continue, according to Bismarck Public Schools.
