A Dickinson man has been arrested and charged with four counts of gross sexual imposition, a Class AA felony, and terrorizing, a Class C felony.

Chon E. Tackett, 37, was arrested Wednesday at about 3 p.m. following an extensive sexual assault investigation involving a 12-year-old victim, according to a Dickinson Police Department press release.

Tackett was taken into custody by DPD detectives following an interview at Dickinson Public Safety Center. He was transported to the Southwest Multi County Correctional Center where he was lodged.

The criminal complaint alleges Tackett engaged in a sexual act with a minor. An additional charge alleges that Tackett's made contact with the victim's genitals. Tackett also compelled the victim to engage in the sexual acts "by force or by threat of imminent death, serious bodily injury or kidnapping."

Tackett was charged with terrorizing after he "threatened the victim and her family's safety," according to the complaint.

The acts took place in Stark County in October.

In North Dakota, a Class AA felony carries a sentence of life without parole, and a minimum sentence of 20 years in jail, and/or a $100,000 fine.

A Class C felony carries a maximum sentence of five years in jail and a $10,000 fine.

An initial appearance in Stark County District Court had not been scheduled at press time.
