CONCORD, N.H. (AP) -- An Eagle Scout who spent three nights alone in New Hampshire's White Mountains has been discharged from a hospital.

Scott Mason, a 17-year-old from Halifax, Mass., was spotted by searchers Tuesday making his way to the summit of Mount Washington. He was about a 45-minute hike from the weather observatory atop the mountain.

Mason was reunited with family, then taken to a hospital in Berlin to have pain in one of his legs checked out. A nursing supervisor says he was admitted Tuesday night in fair condition and was discharged Wednesday.

Mason headed up Mount Washington early Saturday and was planning to hike 17 miles in one day. But warm weather caused rapid snowmelt, swelling streams and forcing a change in his route.
