Incumbent candidates Mark Benes (159 votes) and Wade Walworth (144 votes) won seats on the Beach City Council, but there was a tie for an open third seat between incumbent Jeanne Larson and Robert Schmeling (both 121 votes). Theresa Medina received 103 votes.
Beach City Auditor Kim Nunberg said city officials will wait until votes are canvassed next Monday to declare either a winner or an official tie.
Nunberg said Tuesday night that she is unsure of what the city must do to declare an eventual winner should the official vote tally result in a tie.
Kessel keeps position as Billings County commissioner
Joseph Kessel beat out Lester Iverson to keep his seat as Billings County commissioner on Tuesday with just 11 more votes than his competitor. Kessel received 172 votes while Iverson walked away with 161 votes.
Dunn County Commissioner incumbents re-elected
Dunn County Commissioners Reinhard Hauck and Bob Kleeman were re-elected on Tuesday night. Hauck, who serves as the current commissioner chair, was re-elected to his second term where Kleeman has served on the commission for 10 years. Both incumbents won 56 percent of the vote combined.
Bowman County picks 2 incumbents in 10-person race
Incumbents Rick Braaten and Pine Abrahamson won two of three open seats on the Bowman County Commission Tuesday with 795 and 538 votes, respectively. Jerry Jeffers won the third open seat in a race among 10 candidates.
James remains Bowman mayor
Bowman City Commission President Lyn James held onto her position by defeating challenger Chuck Whitney 363-298 on Tuesday.
There was a close race for two Bowman City Commission seats as Myron Vail won 43 percent of the vote and Ryan Sheer (256 votes) edged Dan Peterson (253 votes), though the second seat is likely unconfirmed until after canvassing.
Kloosterman wins over Haverluk for mayor
Terri Kloosterman received 112 of 203 votes to win the Glen Ullin mayoral position Tuesday.
Kloosterman will replace incumbent Ray Haverluk who received 69 votes.
Reis, Klatt elected to Billings County School Board
Julie Reis and Matt Klatt were elected to the Billings County School Board, according to a news release. They'll represent Districts 4 and 5, respectively. Reis received 40 of 52 votes. Klatt received 51 of 53 votes.
Wyman holds mayor title after beating cancer
Richard G. Wyman, who ran unopposed for re-election for an unexpired two-year term as Hettinger mayor, won after recovering from three cancer surgeries and being diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome in 2015. In a previous interview with The Press, Wyman said he was excited to resume his mayoral duties after beating his illnesses.
Ouradnik retains Slope County seat
Slope County Commissioner Scott Ouradnik won earned 111 votes to challenge Len Salder's 44 in a race for the county's District 2 seat.
Watford City elects city council members
Watford city residents voted for Kenny Liebel (368 votes), Matthew Beard (243 votes) and Bethany Mulder Devlin (209 votes) as its new city council members during Tuesday's elections.
