Tigirlily -- Kendra and Krista Slaubaugh -- served dinner at Angel 37 Kitchen on Tuesday as part of their belief in community service. They were joined by their parents, Brenda and and Kendall Slaubaugh, who live in Hazen.
Angel 37 is a “community kitchen” with everyone invited for dinner from 6-7 p.m. Tuesdays at the Queen of Peace community center.
The Tigirlily artists became acquainted with Angel 37 founder Tana Bosch Johnson when they did a fundraiser concert for the Southwest Homeless Coalition.
“That’s how we first got connected and we stay connected through Facebook or whenever they are in Dickinson,” Johnson said.
Tigirlily accepted the invitation to serve because if the kitchen’s mission -- to bring the community together for a dinner that’s open to everyone.

“It’s amazing -- it brings all walks of life together, which I love,” Kendra said. “It’s always a good opportunity to serve others and to meet new people.”
Johnson said the evening meal was sponsored by Four Corners Cafe with Jesse Romanyshyn of Fairfield and his partner, Deanna. A cake, designed as a guitar, was made by Erin Cronbaugh, owner of Cake Life.
“Angel 37 is more than a place to eat,” Johnson said. “It’s a place where friendships are made… seeing people once a week, and greeting them with a hug or a pat on the shoulder. People become like family.”
On behalf of the 160 participants that evening, she expressed her appreciation to everyone who helped make the dinner possible.
Tigirlily’s next performance is special -- they will appear on stage of the Burning Hills Amphitheater at Medora at 3:30 p.m. Saturday. They will present a concert of country music suitable for the entire family and will launch their new album, “Wild Creatures.” Their concert will include guest performers from Let’s Dance Studio. The concert is among the local performances that Tigirlily has scheduled before they move to Nashville in August.
“We’re leaving with mixed emotions,” Kendra said. “Krista graduated a year ago from high school. We’ve been doing this a long time, and it’s always been at the back of mind when we’d move to Nashville. We wanted to finish out our concerts this year and we’re headed down there to see what happens next. We’re excited to learn and grow, and we’ll always come back to North Dakota.”
