The Dickinson Trinity football team needed a win to wash its hands after last week's loss at Watford City and running back Dan Carr made sure the Titans got what they needed.

Carr rushed for 172 yards and four touchdown on 11 carries and didn't play a down in the second half of Trinity's 55-0 victory over the New Town Eagles on Friday night in Class 2A, West Region football at Whitney Stadium.

"I think we got a little bit of our psyche back," Carr said.

Carr touchdown runs of 2 and 12 yards in the first quarter and added 12- and 20-yard scampers in the second quarter.

Tyler Barth contributed his share of the offensive load, diving into the end zone for a 1-yard touchdown in the first quarter and throwing a 25-yard touchdown to Scott Murphy in the second quarter.

The Titans (2-1, 1-1 West Region) built a 48-0 halftime lead on Carr's rushing, its stout defensive front, which held the Eagles to 137 yards, and five interceptions from their defensive backfield.

Trinity intercepted Drew Drosdal five times. Shane Rothschiller, Matt Sisson, Jordan Rising, Marcus Sickler and Kyle Kudrna all had interceptions in the first half.

Kudrna had the final interception of the first half and returned it 75 yards for a touchdown, which put the Titans ahead 48-0.

"They do everything perfect," New Town coach Dave Williams said.

Trinity coach Randy Gordon was impressed with his team's output against the Eagles after losing a 15-14 nail biter to Watford City last week.

"After last weekend, we felt we made too many mistakes and we needed to make some strides this week," Gordon said.

The Titans had their fair share of penalties against New Town, but Gordon was not displeased with what he saw. Trinity travels to unbeaten Hazen next Friday.

"Mentally I think we're going to be ready for next week now," Gordon said. "We did make some strides."

The Titans were without senior fullback Brian Marsh, who sat out after suffering a knee injury against Watford City.

"We really missed Brian tonight," Carr said. "We'll be very excited to have him back next week."

Senior running back Jamie Reese carried the load for the Eagles offensively, rushing for 108 yards on 14 carries.

"He's our leader, he's our captain," Williams said. "We rely a lot on him."
