Twin engine plane damaged after aborted takeoff
A plane’s landing gear was damaged after an aborted takeoff Thursday afternoon at the Dickinson Theodore Roosevelt Regional Airport.
None of the seven passengers was injured when the pilot, as he gained runway speed to take off, “realized that the plane did not have lift and that something was wrong” about 2:50 p.m., according to a North Dakota Highway Patrol report.
The pilot, 53-year-old Ron Vialpando of San Dimas, Calif., then applied the brakes, causing the plane to slide to the end of the runway and into a grassy area. The plane lost a wheel off the landing gear.
The Piaggic Aero Industries twin engine plane was headed for Scottsdale, Ariz.
