Two people were hospitalized around noon Wednesday after their car collided with a Deli Express truck on Highway 22 south of Dickinson.
State Highway Patrol Trooper Erik Klein said around 1 p.m. that the crash investigation was still ongoing. Klein believed at that time that the car was southbound and making a left turn onto 47th Street Southwest, directly across the road from the Southwest Speedway racetrack, when it was struck by the northbound truck.
The truck's driver, who was unharmed in the crash, veered off the road in an effort to avoid the car. His vehicle took some damage to the front driver's side.
Klein said the two passengers of the car were hospitalized soon after the crash. He did not know the extent of the occupants' injuries and said their identities would be released at a later time.
