GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- One semi-finalist has dropped out of the running to become the University of North Dakota’s next president.
UND Presidential Search Committee Co-chairman Hesham El-Rewini said Daniel L. Clay, the dean of the College of Education at the University of Missouri, accepted a position elsewhere. The Iowa City Press-Citizen reported Monday Clay was hired to be the dean of the College of Education at the University of Iowa.
The remaining six candidates have committed to four-day on-campus interviews.
Former North Dakota Gov. Ed Schafer is serving as interim president at UND. In March, the search committee plans to recommend a narrowed pool of applicants to the State Board of Higher Education, which has final hiring authority.
