WILLISTON -- Two separate crashes killed four people in North Dakota’s Oil Patch on Wednesday.

The first crash happened around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday on U.S. Highway 2 near Williston. The North Dakota Highway Patrol said a Ford Expedition was traveling west when the driver, 50-year-old David Flinner of Williston failed to negotiate a slight curve in the road. The vehicle vaulted over an approach, landing on its roof.

Flinner and his two passengers, 27-year-old Jesse Galusha of Bismarck and an unidentified 26-year-old woman from Williston, were transported to Trinity Hospital in Minot. The woman died from her injuries. No one in the vehicle was wearing their seatbelts.

The second crash happened shortly before 7:30 p.m. near Watford City. A Dodge Ram failed to yield at an intersection with U.S. Highway 200.

The vehicle was struck by a truck driven by 45-year-old Gary Swisher of Virginia. Swisher was uninjured. All three occupants of the Dodge -- driver Kobby Nai Sowah, 39, of Florida; and passengers Ian C. Everett, 21, and Donovan B. Puga, 21, both of Idaho -- died in the crash. Sowah was wearing a seatbelt; his passengers were not.
