A 12-year-old girl was struck by a car while riding her bicycle near downtown Dickinson Monday morning.
Capt. Dustin Dassinger of the Dickinson Police Department said the girl was on the southwest corner of Third Avenue West and Villard Street, attempting to cross the street heading north when she was struck.
Dassinger said a car traveling east on Villard Street was turning to head south under a railroad underpass when the car "bumped" the girl.
"Apparently the light had turned green and the girl just started taking off at the same time," Dassinger said, adding the girl was not wearing a helmet.
The girl and the girl's mother refused ambulance transport to the hospital, Dassinger said.
