Dickinson senior golfer Chivas Beaudoin has her eye on the prize.
Beaudoin carried a 3-stroke lead from the front nine to the finish line, winning medalist honors with a 3-over 75 at the West Region meet on a sunny Saturday morning at Heart River Golf Course.
"After three holes, I was pretty happy with how I was playing," Beaudoin said. "After that, it went downhill a little bit. It was kind of sporadic. I put myself in bad positions. My score should have been lower."
Nonetheless, Beaudoin still finished three strokes in front of runner-up Laura Kraft of Jamestown, who matched Beaudoin's 37 on the back nine.
Williston's Ashley Beard and Minot's Shantel Montgomery finished tied for third with 81s while MicKayla Nagel (82) of Minot rounded out the top five.

"She pulled it together," Dickinson coach Olivia Wellenstein said. "She was hitting the ball solid on the back nine."
Beaudoin's win gives her three straight West Region championships, but according to her, it's just practice for what matters most - the state meet Oct. 1-2 at Fargo.
"This is practice for state," Beaudoin said. "It's nice to get the confidence boost, but in all reality, it's the next one that really
matters."
After placing fourth at state last year, Beaudoin is trying to get back to her sophomore glory when she won the state title.
"She needed this, so she can go into state with a little more confidence," Wellenstein said.
Beaudoin's score helped the Midgets to the team title, carding a 335. Minot finished three strokes behind with a 338, and Jamestown (357), Bismarck High (371) and Bismarck Century (382) rounded out the top five. The top six teams quality for the state meet and Williston made the cut, placing sixth with a 416.
Individually, Dickinson's Shaynna Mann (84), Caitlin Dunn (86) and Jenna Wellenstein (90) all qualified for the state meet.
