Williston man charged in stabbing

WILLISTON -- A Williston man accused of stabbing a man in the neck and face at the Vegas Motel early Friday has been charged with felony aggravated assault.

WILLISTON - A Williston man accused of stabbing a man in the neck and face at the Vegas Motel early Friday has been charged with felony aggravated assault.
Dwayne Turner, 29, pleaded not guilty at a court appearance later in the day. A jury trial has been set for the week of June 1.
According to an affidavit of probable cause, police were called to the motel at about 12:44 a.m. Police said witnesses told them that Turner pushed the victim against a wall. The victim pushed back, after which Turner swung a large blade at him and fled the scene, according to the affidavit. Police said the laceration was deep enough to expose bones and an artery in the victim’s neck.

“This is sensationalism at its finest, and it does not deserve to be heard in our state capitol,” Rep. Erin Healy, a Democrat and one of 10 votes against the bill in the 70-person chamber, said.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
