The National Weather Service reports that Huron on Wednesday set a snowfall record for the date with 3.7 inches, breaking the city's 1916 record of 2.1 inches.

Pierre and Sisseton both set precipitation records on Tuesday -- Pierre with 0.32 inches and Sisseton with 0.76 inches. Pierre's record had stood for 14 years, Sisseton's for nearly half a century.

The storm did dump heavy snowfall in some areas. Reports show nearly a foot in the southern North Dakota counties of Emmons and Richland, and more than a foot in some spots in South Dakota's Spink and Hand counties.
