The National Weather Service has issued red flag warnings for a large portion of eastern Montana through 9 tonight, according to the service.
Most of the northeast section of the state is under the warning, including Wibaux and Glendive. High winds will make fires difficult to control, according to NWS.
Wind gusts up to 50 mph are also expected over central and eastern North Dakota today and tonight and chances of thunderstorms which could produce large hail are forecast for those portions of the state, according to a National Weather Service hazardous weather outlook.
