Wyoming man killed in crash with Mack truck

A Wyoming man was killed when the car he was riding in hit a truck from behind and caught on fire early Wednesday morning on Williams County Road 7B.

A Wyoming man was killed when the car he was riding in hit a truck from behind and caught on fire early Wednesday morning on Williams County Road 7B.

Jeffrey Novotny, 29, of Riverton, Wyo., and driver Zackery Brown, of Conifer, Colo., had been traveling east when Brown failed to stop at an intersection and hit a 2011 Mack truck driven by Prince Jackson, 32, of Williston.

The truck dragged Brown's 2011 Dodge Ram pickup for a short distance before the pickup started on fire.

Jackson and other bystanders extinguished the fire, but Novotny died at the scene.

Brown was airlifted to Trinity Hospital in Minot. Jackson was uninjured.

The crash is being investigated by the North Dakota Highway Patrol. Williston Fire and Rescue assisted in the incident.
